So, um, I have a new blog.

So I've decided to try to participate in NaBloPoMo, a NaNoWriMo-like event where participants post a blog entry per day for a month. In order to overcome that blogging inertia that's taken over my LJ, I've started a new blog. Here it is!

I know I had another blog before, but it was through a different service I ended up kind of disliking. Hopefully this one will be more successful and will get me writing regularly again. So go read it! Please? I could use the motivation.

P.S. I still read my LJ friends list regularly. And I may still write the occasional friends-locked post here.

P.P.S. Would someone with a paid account be so kind as to set up an LJ feed for me?
Update: Here's the LJ feed: storyofalexis. Thanks, mooinabox!

My subconscious has been watching too much South Park.

I have my alarm clock set to NPR. When it went off this morning, they were talking about the government's economic stimulus plan, which involves giving $600 to individuals below a certain income level. I wanted to know more, but my will was weak, so instead I hit the snooze button and went back to sleep.

Then I dreamed nobody could figure out how to get their $600, and so we all just stood around waiting for the money to literally come out our asses.

Something's going down

So I know I've already mentioned this to some of you: I've saved up enough, and it's time to move out of Mom's house.

I've decided on a small town about 15 minutes away from where I work (and about 20 minutes closer to Ann Arbor than where I currently live). It's fairly close to a major shopping center, and within walking distance of the apartment complex I've chosen are a European specialty market, a Mediterranean restaurant, and a nice coffee shop, among other things. Awesome.

Barring any problems, I'm going to go take a last look at the place and fill out a leasing application tomorrow, and I'm tentatively planning to move in the beginning of March.

Now I must pick out my furniture. Oh yes.

The Target within walking distance of our house is closing down to make way for a new, much farther away one. You have no idea how sad this makes me.

On the other hand, I bet they'll have some AWESOME sales.

Rita Skeeter scooped!

Could possibly be a little spoilery, as it casts a character's actions in a different light.Collapse )

J.K., I think I love you.

Bored, Potter and houseware talk

It's the end of our production cycle, and it's sloooooooow. Here I am, logging into LiveJournal from work, which I normally don't do because of LJ's personal nature.

I finished Harry Potter! Yay. But I daren't say anything about it for fear of spoiling it for someone.

I went to IKEA last weekend! With my mom and an old friend of hers. It made me ache for my own apartment.

I'm thinking of starting a little herb garden in our kitchen window. Mom already has one going out back, but I want one I can take with me when I move out. I kind of want this little greenhouse. I don't think I would actually need one to grow my cilantro and oregano and chives, but it's cute and I want it.

I also want this table. With the antique stain. It's cute and compact and perfect for my future bachelorette pad.

Oh! I got an espresso maker. It's a stovetop one where you put the water in the bottom, the espresso above and the water comes up through the espresso and goes into the pot on top through pressure...thing. I need to buy some espresso so I can try it out. And I need to find my demitasse cups! They're packed away in my apartment stuff somewhere and I miss them. And I need to find out how I can steam or effectively froth milk cheaply. I've looked online at milk steamers and frothers, but it seems like if I just heated the milk and whisked it or something, I could still make a passable latte. Right? Anyway, my coffee capabilities are expanding! Brewed, Turkish, espresso - my place is where it's at.

The internet is a dangerous place.

It will NOT be ruined this time.

I regard every incoming e-mail with suspicion, every url with a calculation of risk, every news report about overzealous hackers with loathing and dread.

Forums are out of the question. Blog posts are okay, I think, as long as they're from a trusted source and I completely avoid even the slightest glance at the comments. Any stranger could be a cruel, cruel person who delights in destroying the joys of others. They must be avoided at all costs.

Now, where's that Amazon package? I've got some Harry Pottering to do.

I just flipped a quesadilla in a skillet. Without a spatula. I RULE.

(Sorry no updates lately. I'm going to update my 101 list soon, adding this item: Update my LiveJournal at least once a week.)

Lookit! NaNoWriMo's got a sister site going for a screen/stageplay-writing month in June. I think I just might do it. I sure am bored enough.

Anybody game?
